“We are so excited to begin filming on the island,” said Andrew Smith, Series Producer and Director. “This series is being produced with Bermuda in mind. I am very familiar with the island as I have family here; however, the majority of people I speak to around the world know very little about Bermuda and we hope to change that. In addition, we have engineered the production to employ skilled locals, use local assets and source local series investment.”

Ocean Vet will be a factual series set in Bermuda’s waters documenting the exploits of British veterinarian Dr Neil Burnie  “a man on a mission to conserve and protect Bermuda’s precious marine wildlife”.

Dr Burnie will use his veterinary skills to help 11 threatened marine species in Bermuda and alongside a specialist team and he will gather data in a bid to ensure their future. The series, described as breathtaking and thrilling, takes us on an underwater adventure bringing the viewer closer than ever to sharks, whales, lion fish, grouper, turtles and more.

“Neil’s enthusiasm is truly infectious and his ‘hands-on’ invasive conservational approach to some of the most incredible and dangerous marine animals makes for captivating viewing,” said Smith.

“We are thrilled to welcome gassProductions to the island for the filming of Ocean Vet,” said Bermuda Tourism Authority CEO Bill Hanbury. “Not only will the series generate worldwide positive exposure about Bermuda, but also it will bring about awareness to the important cause of conserving the exquisite marine environment that makes this island such a special destination.”
