Rubis Energy Bermuda has donated another year of fuel for education to facilitate marine conservation excursions for local schoolchildren to support conservation education programmes.
This the second year Rubis has provided 12 months’ worth of diesel fuel to operate Endurance, the environmental education vessel owned and operated by the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo.
The 45-foot Endurance takes students of all ages on summer-camp expeditions, class fieldstrips, research studies and after school outings to various marine parks around the Island where they snorkel on reefs, study turtles or enjoy whale-watching and glow-worm tours.
The marine expeditions are part of the Bermuda Zoological Society’s long-running programme enjoyed by some 6,000 local students a year.
General manager for Rubis Energy Bermuda David Rose said: “RUBiS is happy to be in a position to assist the Bermuda Zoological Society’s education programme as it is a fantastic opportunity for schoolchildren to learn about the importance of Bermuda’s marine environment.”
Principal curator and BZS board member Dr Ian Walker was extremely grateful to Rubis “for enabling us to continue getting students immersed in the natural environment”.
RUBIS Energy Bermuda is the licensed distributor of Shell fuels and lubricants in Bermuda.
