After over a year of recuperating at the Bermuda, Aquarium, Museum & Zoo [BAMZ] after losing a flipper, a green sea turtle was released into the wild recently, dropped off about five miles east of Bermuda.

On Saturday, 25th March, the Bermuda Zoological Society held their 25th Annual Zoom Around the Sound event. Funds raised from the walk, run, ride event assist with programmes run by the Bermuda Zoological Society run out of the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo.
Entrants began their course at BAMZ and headed counter clockwise around Harrington Sound Road from North Shore Road, Middle Road, Harrington Sound Road, Trinity Church Road, North Shore Road and back to BAMZ. Photos: BZS “Zoom Around The Sound” Event March 29, 2017.
Through the years, ZOOM Around the Sound has continued to grow and has since become a key fundraising opportunity to support the educational programmes of the BZS.
This year the event raised close to $15,000 and these funds will support the BZS the School’s Programme, designed to enhance the school curriculum especially in areas such as science. Last year these programmes served over 7,000 students across the island.
Joanne Chisnall, volunteer coordinator for BZS, said: “This year marked 25 years of hosting ZOOM Around the Sound and it continues to be a very popular event with our friends, members and neighbours, with many participating year after year.
“We are extremely thankful our sponsors Ben and Jerry’s and Butterfield and Vallis, who have brought so much to the event, particularly Butterfield and Vallis, who have supported this event since its inception.”
