An entire flotilla of boats departed Albuoy’s Point on Sunday morning [Nov 16] as people from around the island made their way out onto the water in order to bid farewell to “Ocean Vet” Dr. Neil Burnie, who was buried at sea.

Dr Neil Burnie has been laid to rest, with his body placed in the water 600 fathoms deep at Western Blue Cut yesterday afternoon.

Dr. Neil Burnie will be buried at sea this coming Sunday [Nov 16], with boats set to leave Albuoys Point at about 10.00am, and anyone wanting to join in with their own boat is welcome to attend.

The Department of Conservation Services said they would like to advice the public that renovations are to begin at the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo [BAMZ] to replace the Aquarium Hall roof and undertake internal renovations.
The Aquarium Hall will be closed from Monday 6th October and is expected to reopen of March 2015.
A spokesperson said, “For clarification the renovations are restricted to the Aquarium Hall only and the rest of the facility will remain open for the duration of the project.
“The areas remaining open are the Zoo, the Natural History Museum and Library, Local Tails and Discovery Room, Playground and Restaurant. The North Rock Tank will open when safe to do so and the gift shop will be relocated to one of the facility’s classrooms. The Bermuda Zoological Society’s education programs will not be affected.
“The Public will access through the normal admission’s entrance for the first week after which they will be redirected through a temporary entrance near the Seal Pool. For further information please phone 293-2727.”
