All the latest updates and news from the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum, and Zoo, one of Bermuda's leading visitor attractions!
The fifth installment of the Bermuda Zoological Society’s “Zoobilee: The Hungry Games” is set for Saturday, October 4.
The biennial fundraising event supports free BZS education programmes and offers guests a night of unique entertainment set on the grounds of the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo, and this year the theme is a twist on The Hunger Games® phenomenon.
A BZS spokesperson said, “While our guests will not have to fight for their lives, the games will begin the moment they arrive with Rockfire Productions bringing the fire and DJ Donovan getting the party started.
“We are dividing BAMZ into themed districts featuring “celebrity chefs” from the Island Restaurant Group, AZU Beastro, Flying Chef, and Butterfield Bank’s Christopher Malpas, each serving tantalizing tapas-style dishes. As guests feast on fine food, they can take a taste – if they dare – of our specialty drink, Nightlock Punch.
“Tributes [our guests] will launch into the Cornucopia, which will reveal a feast to help them survive the Hungry Games. Success at a variety of Minute To Win It games earns Tribute Tokens for use throughout the evening.
“Strolling down the Avenue of Tributes, guests will find enticing small plates, dance to the party playlist, or take a spin on the Money Wheel, but they must stay alert, there are more challenges around the corner!
“Only the strongest and bravest will be able to survive the greatest challenges faced in the Arena at Zoobilee: The Hungry Games. From riding the mechanical bull, to aiming for the target at Lionfish Archery or testing one’s skills on the Sling Shot platform… May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favour.
“Our goal is to raise $100,000 from Zoobilee: The Hungry Games, which will allow us to continue providing free educational opportunities that connect our children with nature.
“The BZS has a history of strong education programmes that have an impact not only on students’ immediate educational experiences, but also on their futures as advocates or professional stewards of our environment. What sets BZS conservation education programmes apart is the opportunity to observe, study, interact and care for live animals – experiences that resonate deeply with all students.
“All-inclusive tickets cost $125 per person. Do not miss the party of the year on Saturday, October 4th from 7 pm until midnight at the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum & Zoo! This is going to be a big, big, big event. For more information visit www.bzs.bm, or to purchase tickets, email development.bzs@gov.bm or call 299-2326.
“Zoobilee: The Hungry Games is an adults-only event because alcohol is being served. Partygoers must be 18 years of age or older. Minors will not be admitted even if accompanied by a parent. For the convenience of our guests, we have arranged transportation back and forth from our satellite parking areas. Tributes, Don’t Drink and Drive – please nominate a designated driver or take a taxi.”
