Description
The JV Programme is open to highschoolers with a minimum age of 14. It is one of our oldest programmes here with BZS. This a great opportunity for any young adult with an interest in learning more about what we do at BAMZ and BZS behind the scenes. It provides an opportunity for those interested in zoology, marine sciences, conservation, or environmental science education to gain experience and learn from professionals in those areas.
Programme Requirements
JVs must be able to commit to either 4 hours on Saturday or Sunday morning every week that school is in session during the school year. JVs will rotate among 3 different placements through the year: Zoo, Aquarium, and Education. During their rotations in the Zoo and Aquarium, JVs will spend their time preparing food for the animals, cleaning exhibits, assisting with animal enrichments, feed the animals and other activities as needed in those areas. JVs will learn a great deal about the animals in these rotations and how to care for them. During Education rotations, JVs will assist the Ed Team with educational programming such as Science Club and Wild Encounters, as well as other special events. In addition to the weekend commitment, JVs will participate in other seasonal events like Santa Comes to Bamz and BAMZ After Dark. These will require the ability to participate at times other than their weekend.
