BZS Education Classes

BZS Education Classes give students the chance to learn through hands-on, interactive experiences led by our team of enthusiastic educators. Each year, thousands of young people take part in classes that bring Science to life through field trips, investigations, and real-world problem solving.

Our offerings include:

GASS
Generating Academic Success in Science

GASS classes put students at the centre of their learning. Through fun, hands-on projects and investigations, they explore science by asking questions, solving problems, and designing solutions. Activities might include investigating how different surfaces affect the speed of a rolling object or testing what plants need to grow.

These lessons follow international standards and use the 5E learning cycle to guide students step by step. GASS helps students build curiosity, creativity, and confidence in science.

Ocean Education
Discovering Our Blue Backyard

Ocean Education classes immerse students in Bermuda’s ocean world. From boat trips on Endurance to beach explorations and Trunk Island activities, students dive into Ocean Science and connect with the marine life around them. They learn about coral reefs, marine animals, and the importance of protecting our seas. These classes help students discover their role in caring for Bermuda’s blue backyard.

Natural History
Exploring Animals and Our Island

Natural History classes focus on the amazing animals and environments of Bermuda and beyond. Students might meet live reptiles, explore the life cycle of frogs, study Bermuda’s endemic Cahow, or discover how the island itself was formed. These classes bring Science to life through close-up experiences in the Aquarium and Zoo. While not tied to international standards, they spark curiosity, deepen knowledge, and make learning unforgettable.

Living Classroom
Learning Outdoors

The Living Classroom takes learning outside, at BAMZ on Trunk Island, in Micro Forests and around Bermuda. Students step into nature to study local plants and animals, practice fieldwork techniques, and see how ecosystems work first-hand. Whether measuring populations, identifying species, or exploring habitats, students learn Science in action. These experiential learning opportunities also encourage a deeper appreciation for Bermuda’s natural environment and inspire the next generation of environmental champions.

Lessons are designed to complement school curriculum and include pre- and post-activities that help integrate the field trip into classroom learning. All classes follow the 5E (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate) learning cycle and align with Cambridge Standards, as well as IB, AP, and the UK Creative Curriculum. They also emphasize core science and engineering practices that build critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Educators can choose from a wide range of programmes.
